My Soul to Save is the second book in the series of Soul Screamers from Rachel Vincent - from the first page she entinces you to continue with her fictional story of death and the Netherworld.
Having never read the first in the series, I was dubious to begin reading the book as I didn't want be lost amongst the characters, trying to find my way to the clear path of the storyline. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that each of the details were described as they were mentioned and it was easy to decipher who the characters are and what roles they have within the story.
Kaylee is a bean sidhe, or as some call a banshee, and when someone dies she screams as their soul is suspended into the air waiting to be sucked up from the waiting grim reaper. But Kaylee and her allstar, jock boyfriend, who is also a bean sidhe, can guide the souls back into people, but it comes at the cost of sparing another life.
When the pair attend a concert of teen popstar Eden and she drops dead on stage, Kaylee doesn't wail. She knows something is up and soon finds out that Eden sold her soul for her career - and she wasn't the only one to do so.
The only way to get their souls back is to revoke the out-clause of the contract they signed with the hellion and Kaylee swears that she will do anything to help save the souls she can - even at the risk of alienating those she holds closest to her.
This book is a refreshing change to the vampire/werewolf books we have seen lately and Vincent manages to cement her right to be apart of this particular genre.
